今週の木曜だっただろうか、
毎日使っているGoogleのRSSリーダーを開くと
下記のような警告が表示された。

詳細のリンク先を開くと下記のような内容であった。

We have just announced on the Official Google Blog that we will soon retire Google Reader (the actual date is July 1, 2013). We know Reader has a devoted following who will be very sad to see it go. We’re sad too.

There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we’re pouring all of our energy into fewer products. We think that kind of focus will make for a better user experience.

To ensure a smooth transition, we’re providing a three-month sunset period so you have sufficient time to find an alternative feed-reading solution. If you want to retain your Reader data, including subscriptions, you can do so through Google Takeout.

Thank you again for using Reader as your RSS platform.

なんとRSSリーダーのサービスを今年7月1日に終了するとの事で
3ヵ月の猶予があるからそれまでに代替サービスを探せや、という内容。

なんとまぁ。。同日に様々なニュースサイトで上記内容が取り上げられ
サービス終了に反対する署名活動なども行われているようです。

署名活動によりサービス終了が撤回される事を祈りつつも、
代替サービスを探さなくてはいけないと考えると面倒で仕方がない。

ただ、最近では取得しているRSSの情報量が肥大化しすぎてしまい、
1日見ないと膨大な量が未読になっており、気が滅入っていたのも事実である。

RSSリーダーの引っ越しの際には、
せっかくなので必要のないものを見直しスリム化を図りたいと思う。

それにしても面倒だから撤回して欲しいなぁ。
